Lakes Parish Council Newsletter
Lakes Parish Council wishes to welcome our parishioners and visitors to our brand new website. Our previous page was hosted by a local resident that has worked alongside us for many years and without him we could not have shared information over the years. We wish to thank him.
The time has come to be independent and engage more with the community. The new website will host a wealth of information that will enable the local community to be informed on all matters to include highways, events, planning, meetings and finances. This will be built on over the coming months.
County and District Councils in Cumbria are currently undergoing Local Government Reorganisation which means that current councils will be dissolved and replaced by two large councils called Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council. Our area will fall under the Westmorland Council. We are unsure as to the effect it is going to have on the Parish Council and it’s statutory functions, but will aim to keep you updated as and when we receive information.
We would like to thank our longterm handyman, Robin Lees, who have now retired after 15 years of service. Many of you will have seen him out and about litter picking and painting memorial benches. He did an incredible job and will be big boots to fill. We are lucky enough to have found a replacement for Robin and he has now started in the new role. Local resident, Mark Furniss, has taken on this challenging role so please feel free to thank him for the great work he is already doing across Lakes Parish when you bump into him.
We would like thank Mrs Footit for many years of service on the Parish Council and condolences to Cllr Truelove’s family. His unexpected passing has left a big hole and he will be greatly missed. It therefore leaves two vacancies in the Grasmere Ward – if you wish to apply, please contact the Clerk.
We would like to hear from our community members. Please get in touch with compliments or comments. Tell us what you would like us to focus on, local issues and where you would like to see change. If we can’t help because it’s not within our remit we will point you in the right direction or help you take it forward. Please contact the Clerk, Charlene, on e-mail: email@example.com
We wish you a very merry Christmas with your family and friends. Stay Safe!
Warm Wishes from all at Lakes Parish Council
